Upcoming Minnesota Paid Leave Deadlines

The Minnesota Paid Leave law (PFML) goes into effect on January 1, 2026. There are several upcoming deadlines to keep in mind, so be sure to note them to avoid missing any important dates.

The first of which is this October 31, 2025, when employers are required to submit their wage detail reports if they are going with the state plan. If you selected a private plan, please note the deadline in the table below.

If you select the public plan, employers must submit their wage detail reports at uimn.org.

November 10, 2025

If you select a private equivalent plan, employers must submit their exemption application materials at uimn.org. Please work closely with your private insurance provider.

December 1, 2025

Employers are required to provide notice pf PFML to employees individually in writing and display the poster. Please review our latest Employer Advisors discussing the notice here and here.

Employers that plan to seek the seasonal hospitality employment designation must provide notice to current seasonal employees in writing.

April 30, 2026

If you select the private equivalent plan, employers must submit their wage detail reports at uimn.org.

First premium payment is due.
